Your data, in plain English
Last updated 1 November 2026
The short version: we collect only what's needed to run Yaaran and keep it safe. Your email and phone number are never public. We never sell your data. You can delete your account at any time.
Who we are
Yaaran runs a free platform for member-posted plans in Hyderabad. We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
- To log in: your email address and name from your Google account.
- To contact you about plans: your WhatsApp number.
- Your profile: name, age, gender, area, interests and a short bio. If you're a resident, your tower and flat number.
- Teens you add: their name, age and gender, and the date you gave consent.
- What you do on Yaaran: plans you post (including the exact meeting spot), requests to join, who you accept, reports, blocks and notifications.
- Technical data: basic logs to keep the site secure, and anonymous visit counts without advertising cookies.
Who sees what
- Anyone: plan details (except the meeting spot), and the organiser's first name and verification status.
- Logged-in members: your first name, age, area, interests, bio, verification and Resident badge. Never your full name, gender, email, phone number or flat.
- Organisers you ask to join: the same profile details, so they can decide.
- People in the same plan: if an organiser accepts you, you see their meeting spot and phone number. If you accept someone, they see yours, plus the first names of others going.
- Our team: what we need to review posts and reports and keep members safe, including email addresses and phone numbers.
- Service providers: Supabase (database and log-in), Google (log-in), Resend (sending alert emails) and our website host (Netlify). They may use your data only to provide their service to us.
- Authorities: if the law requires it, or someone's safety is at risk.
We never sell your data and never share it with advertisers.
Why we use it
To run your account, show and review plans, connect organisers with the people they accept, keep members safe (age checks, women-only plans, reports, blocks, suspensions) and improve Yaaran. We use your data because you consented when you signed up. You can withdraw consent by deleting your account.
How long we keep it
- Your profile, posts and requests: until you delete your account.
- Reports and suspensions: as long as needed to keep members safe, reviewed every year.
Your rights
You can see and correct your profile at any time, and delete your account from your profile page. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, nominate someone to act for you, or raise a complaint. Email raviteja4452@gmail.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Teenagers (13–17)
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we process a teenager's data only with the verifiable consent of their parent or legal guardian, given when the parent adds them from their own logged-in account. Teens don't have their own login.
- We store only their name, age and gender.
- Their first name and age go only to the organisers of plans their parent asks to join for them, and to others accepted into the same plan.
- We never track, profile or advertise to teens.
- Parents can remove a teen at any time from their profile, which deletes the teen's data and requests.
Children under 13 can't be added. Anyone under 18 can't have their own account; if we find one, we'll delete it.
Security
The site runs on HTTPS. Your data is protected by database rules that let each member see only what they're allowed to. Only a small team can see private details, using accounts with two-factor sign-in. If a breach could affect you, we'll tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
Grievance officer
Under the Information Technology Rules, 2021 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can raise complaints with our grievance officer:
- Name: Ravi Teja
- Email: raviteja4452@gmail.com
We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
